Houston, we have progress.

I am convinced that potty training will either be my slow demise or cause me to hide in a corner twitching obscenities, thus committing me to the psych ward. This is either the 5th or 6th go around of trying to get Shayna to just sit on the potty, and up until last night, I thought I was going to have to quit again after advice from a lady that comes to see us for Healthy Families. I had tried everything from letting her go naked, to using big girl panties so she wouldn't like the feeling of being wet, and trying rewards. She just flat showed no interest and wasn't bothered in the least to wet herself, and to make matters worse, she screamed bloody murder when I would sit her on her little potty. I had also tried the big potty in the past with the same story.

Well, last night, after changing the 5,690,736,738,328 diaper, I sat her on the toilet in the bathroom and she actually sat without tears or any tantrums. This may sound like pointless info to most seeing as how she didn't actually do anything in the toilet, but for me it was a huge sigh of relief because I could actually get her to just sit there without the waterworks.

Small baby steps and hopefully she'll be out of diapers by the time high school rolls around. I'm not pushing it today and will go back to it tomorrow. I know there is no point if she isn't ready so I'm just going to work on getting the sitting on the toilet thing down first.
