Little Pet Peeves

There are quite a few things that get my feathers in a bunch. Some big, and others not so much.

What brought me to blog about this is a post that was on CM earlier. Now, after being on that site for 3 years I have learned 3 things which are as follows:

1) Never in your life will you come across people who care so much about what you do w/ YOUR own boobs.

2) It has turned into a drama- fest, complete with women who think their way is the only way, and if I didn't know any better, I would swear it was high school all over again minus motherhood.

3) No matter how much something pisses you off on there, you will continue to go back. It's like the crack of the internet world.

With that being said, I was on there earlier, as I usually am at various points of the day, no doubt avoiding some wifely task that I should be conducting, when I stumbled upon yet another post filled with sheer ignorance.

We all know those lovely chain emails, texts, and downright stupid rumors that get passed along that cause people to panic, right? Yeah, you know the ones that just scream "fake" and you want to kick donkeys for the imbecile who started them? I was ever so fortunate to stumble across one today that had to do with a gang initiation.

Supposedly, in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, there are gang members placing car seats along the roadside with baby dolls in them and making them out to be injured. Motorists will stop to check on what they think is a human baby, and out jumps these thugs who attack, and sometimes kill the innocent person all to be in a gang.

Now, aside from the fact that this just screams "urban legend," and has been been disproved, let's just take a gander at how this doesn't add up shall we?

First of all, don't you think the "high ranking official" (it is always a high ranking official that tells about this) would have had this on the news instead of passing it along on the internet?

Second, wouldn't someone see this happening, as it's being reported to occur on roadways?

Lastly, where in God's creation would a whole gang be able to hide on the side of a road, and how would they know when someone was going to stop? They would literally have to be just sitting on the side of road like some form of aliens waiting for their spaceship. Yeah, that's totally inconspicuous.....NOT.

In conclusion, stop posting crap that doesn't even have a ring of truth to it, thus inducing panic and making you look like a blubbering idiot.

Baptism

After becoming quite jaded by prior experiences in Baptist churches growing up, and some traumatic experiences in my childhood, I was led into being Agnostic. I stated some of this in a previous post, but I wanted to shed some light on my experience with becoming a Christian again after my baptism yesterday. I absolutely love the church we are going to now, and I was re-baptized as a Christian yesterday in a non-denominational church so I am no longer a Baptist. I have done many things I am not proud of, and am now trying to make myself a better Christian. I definitely feel better about myself and like the change has made me a better person.

Yesterday was quite the experience. We met the pastor at the church, along w/ Darin, his wife, and the pastor's wife so I could get baptized for the Lord. George (the pastor) explained some things to me and I took a vow of sorts to be the best Christian I can.

I then got into the baptismal tub which was about 4 feet deep and so cold on the bottom it wasn't funny. It was warm on top, but the bottom was a whole different story.

So, after kicking the water around for a few minutes to get some of the warm water to the bottom, I was immersed and came up feeling like a brand new person.

Our friend Darin is preaching tonight and my wonderful husband will be rededicating his life ,and I will be presented with a certificate of my baptism and I will receive a new Bible. We will also become members of our church tonight and I'm pretty excited about it. We normally go to church on Sunday morning, but being that Darin is preaching tonight, we are going then instead.

I know there were some pictures taken of my baptism by Darin yesterday so when I'm able to get them, I will come back and add them here, but I wanted to share the actual experience for now.

Been a LONG time...

It has been quite a long time since I have updated this. The last entry was from September 2008, and so much has happened- good and bad since then. Shayna is almost three now, and is so smart. The things she says and learns just astounds me sometimes.

Tragically, we lost my dear mother-in-law in October of 2008. She was such a great woman and it really hurts me that she is no longer here to see Shayna grow and live life without so much as one care in the world.

After the passing of David's mom, we started to remodel her house in December of 2008. We did so much to this house, and I am so proud of all the hard work and effort that my husband and Mike put into this place. We have so much more room and it's such a nice feeling to have an actual house. It took eleven long months to get it all done, but it was worth every minute. We moved in on November 21, 2009 and were able to spend the holidays in our new home. We have since rented our trailer that we were in, and the extra money is helping us to finally get back on our feet.

Another thing that I have really been trying to do is to lose weight. I need to do this not only to look better, but for my health. I signed up at www.myfitnesspal.com and it has been helping count all my calories, track exercise, and also has an online community for support and questions that I may have. I have kind of gotten off track, but I am working to get it back together. I've only been at it for less than a month, but I have lost 9 pounds, which is something I guess.

And lastly, and probably the most important thing..David and I have started attending church. He started going to his friend Darin's church 2 weeks before me because I just wasn't ready to attend yet. Several experiences in the past had left me pretty jaded with church, and the past traumatic experiences in my life led me to being Agnostic for about ten years. After attending the vow renewal of Darin and his wife last Saturday, I met a lot of the congregation and they were all very welcoming and nice. I then went to church the following morning with David, and I really can't wait to go back again. Not only did I feel very welcome, but I felt like belonged there. It's like there was something missing that I never even realized WAS missing. It also gives Shayna a chance to socialize with other children in her age group, and she absolutely loves the nursery there, so much so, that she never wants to leave and we have to walk her out screaming, lol.

In a nutshell, those are the big things that have happened since I last updated, and I will be adding a ton of pictures later.
