Reindeer food

With Shayna being almost four now, I am so excited to see her imagination at work, and all the excitement about Christmas. This will be the first year we bake cookies together to leave out for Santa, and sprinkle reindeer food on the lawn so they can find our house. Thanks to a recipe for soft sugar cookies over at http://www.womenlivingwell.org/ they are going to be the perfect cookies to make. I have already made them once, and they are so good, and the best thing is that I normally have all the ingredients they require on hand.

Something else we have started this year is "The Elf on the Shelf," and she has absolutely loved that. It's too bad Jack (our elf) will be making his disappearance in just a couple days, and won't be back until after Thanksgiving 2011. Shayna has loved waking up and finding him in different spots every morning.

Last but not least, we will be doing reindeer food that I saw online. It's just oats, sugar, and decorative crystals layered in a jar. I chose a baby food jar that a friend gave to me. It's not very fancy looking because I didn't have anything to cover the top of the lid.

You can also give these out to kids in your family as a gift. Attach the following poem, and have them sprinkle it on their lawn:

Sprinkle on the lawn at night

The moon will make it sparkle bright

As Santa's reindeer fly and roam

This will guide them to your home.
