Wow, it's been a loooooong time

I can't believe how long it's been since I have updated, but in all honesty, this blog has kind of taken a back seat to all the daily things that go on at the Martin household.

Christmas was great, and since it was Shayna's first one, she has enough toys to last for quite a while. Her first birthday is March 5 and I probably won't even get her any toys (well maybe just 2 or so) because I know everyone else will get her some.

I'm already working on her first birthday plans. We're just waiting to hear back from David's work to see if we can get one of the meeting rooms or not. I have all the ideas for the decorations in my head and it's just a matter of making all the details come together. I really don't know where the time has gone. It seems like yesterday I brought home a tiny bundle of joy who needed me every two hours to feed her and couldn't do anything but lay there. Now she gets an attitude if I take something from her that she shouldn't have, and is trying to walk, but hasn't mastered the skill yet. She has become more independent and that kind of makes me sad.

David and I are still doing great. I think about all the bad relationships I have been in and thank my lucky stars everytime I hear about the heartbreak one of my friends is going through. Not that I wish that upon anyone, but I've had enough of that in my past and that's where I intend to keep it.

We have also got a dog since the last time I wrote anything here. We actually got her back in October and she a little weiner dog named Sadie. We call her the "teenie weenie" Don't tell her she's a dog because she truly thinks she's human. We still have our outside dog Molly, and she comes in sometimes especially when it's storming or really cold outside and my house turns into a zoo then. Sadie runs around and constantly bugs her until Molly gets fed up and gives her a little nip to let her know she's had enough.

David and I have also started planning our vacation for this year, and we're going to go to Texas. His sister lives down there right by Houston and we're going to make the 16 1/2 drive in October because it will be way too hot in the summer. Plus it gives us extra time to save some serious money.
So, I think that's about it for now. My wonderful daughter is laying her crib refusing to take a nap so I have to go. Oh the joys of motherhood.
